What data we collect

Via the website

When you use the website, the following data is logged on our servers:

  • Searched license plates (only when using the license plate search feature)
  • Requested car make and model
  • IP address and country of origin
  • Time of the search

When you contact us via the contact form, we store your name and e-mail address solely to answer your question.

Via the app (Steekmaat / Wheel Fitment / Lochkreisdaten / Entraxes)

When you use the app, the same data is logged as on the website: searched license plates (only when using the license plate search feature), requested car make and model, IP address and country of origin, and the time of the search. The app does not use cookies or local tracking.

Purposes and legal bases

We process your data exclusively for the following purposes, each with a legal basis under the GDPR:

  • Server logs (searches, IP address, time): improving data quality, compiling anonymous usage statistics and protecting our systems against abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Contact form (name, e-mail address): answering your question. Legal basis: performance of your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Advertising cookies (Google AdSense and affiliate networks): displaying advertisements that allow us to fund the site. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can give or refuse via the cookie banner.

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal data. We only share data with the following parties, insofar as necessary for the operation and funding of the site:

  • Google AdSense – displaying advertisements (only after your consent via the cookie banner). See also how Google uses information from partner sites.
  • Affiliate networks (including TradeTracker and Awin) – measuring referrals to web shops via links on our site.
  • Our hosting provider – keeping the website technically available and storing server logs.

Where required, we conclude data processing agreements with parties that process data on our behalf.

Transfers outside the EEA

Google also processes data on servers in the United States. This transfer is based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

Retention periods

  • Server logs (website and app): a maximum of 12 months.
  • Contact form data: a maximum of 12 months after your question has been handled.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device by your browser. This website uses:

  • Functional cookies – necessary for the operation of the site, including remembering your cookie preferences. No consent is required for these.
  • Advertising cookies from Google AdSense – only placed after you have given consent via the cookie banner.
  • Affiliate cookies (TradeTracker, Awin) – placed when you click an affiliate link, so the web shop concerned knows you came via our site.

Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. All connections to our servers use HTTPS.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights:

  • Right of access to your personal data
  • Right to rectification of incorrect data
  • Right to erasure of your data
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to object to processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to withdraw given consent at any time

To exercise these rights, contact us via the contact form. We will respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data, please contact us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, or with the Dutch supervisory authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), as the controller is based in the Netherlands.
